What is a Pedorthist?

A Pedorthist is a health care professional who specializes in the use of footwear and supportive devices to address conditions which affect the feet and lower limbs. They are trained in the assessment of lower limb anatomy and biomechanics, as well as the appropriate use of corrective footwear including shoes, shoe modifications, foot orthoses and other pedorthic devices.

An Evaluation

During an evaluation you will meet with a Certified Pedorthist in a private setting.  We make sure that everything we discuss is in a way that is easy to understand.

An Evaluation includes:

  • Taking complete medical and activity history
  • An examination of the feet 
    • range of motion
    • gait assessment
    • flexion vs rigidity
    • tender areas
    • bony prominences
  • Foot Mapping
  • Interpretation of the findings
  • Checking shoes for wear patterns
  • A review of prescriptions and x-ray reports
  • Discussing previous medical and self treatment to relieve problems
  • Developing a Pedorthic plan of action

First Appointment?

When you come in for your first appointment with us we ask that you bring:

  • The shoes and socks you wear regularly 
  • Shoes and/or arch supports you are having trouble with
  • Any paperwork you might have
    • Doctor prescriptions
    • Doctor's reports
    • Physical therapy instructions
  • Anything that can give us better insight to ringing solutions fast for you
